By Renewable Energy Focus staff at EWEA 2011

The Gode Wind III offshore wind development will serve as a pilot project for Vestas’ 6 MW offshore wind turbines. Vestas will supply 15 of the new offshore turbines.

Anders Søe Jensen, President at Vestas Offshore, declined to comment on further details of the 6 MW wind turbine other than that it “will probably have three blades.”

PNE Wind and Vestas have also said they are extending their cooperation with Vestas delivering 77 offshore wind turbines for Gode Wind I, which has already been approved by German regulatory bodies.

PNE Wind and Vestas are already cooperating on Gode Wind II, which will consist of 84 Vestas V112 3 MW wind turbines. Construction is expected in 2012-2013. A representative for PNE Wind, said financial closure for Gode Wind II is expected mid-2011.
