Siemens gets follow-up solar PV order for Italy

Siemens Energy has received a follow-up order for the turnkey construction of 8 solar photovoltaic (PV) plants in Italy totaling 14 MWp.

By Renewable Energy Focus staff

The solar PV power plants will be erected in the Marche and Abruzzo regions, between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains for Viridis Energia, a joint venture between Echidna S.p.A. and La.G.I. S.r.l.

The solar PV projects are expected to be completed this spring.

The order comes in addition to a previous order for the construction of another 3 MWp of solar PV plants located in the Marche region from the same customer.

“In the last fiscal, Siemens received orders for photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of more than 30 MW from Italy,” says René Umlauft, CEO of the Renewable Energy Division.

“The Italian market is one of the key large-scale PV markets in Europe. This year the market will continue to grow significantly and we want to participate in this growth."
