Abengoa sets up renewable and sustainable energy centre

Abengoa and the Loyola Andalucia University Foundation is setting up a research centre to promote education and research activities based on renewable energy and sustainable development.

The Loyola-Abengoa Research Centre is also planned to be used for training professionals in R&D activities, and as a scientific and technological forum for proposing solutions for renewable energy and sustainable development.

The collaboration agreement, initially for 10 years, also includes cooperation in the following areas:

  • Academic;
  • Research, technological development and innovation;
  • Technical, technological and consultancy studies;
  • Studies of social and environmental problems; and
  • Cooperation for development of European programmes.

Loyola Andalucia University is a private University run by the Company of Jesus, which is waiting for official status from the regional Government of Andalucia. It aims to start classes during the 2013-14 academic year, and to be fully functional by 2017.
