The orders for wind farm grid connections to be deployed at 15 sites in the UK, include two orders from Manchester -based Nordex UK Ltd.

The two D-VAR solutions provided to Nordex UK will be used to enable extensions of the company’s Kilbraur and Millennium wind farms located in Scotland to meet local grid interconnection requirements. AMSC’s D-VAR solutions have provided system-wide voltage control at the initial phases of both wind farms.

The D-VAR system

D-VAR STATCOM systems constantly monitor the power grid and automatically stabilise voltage to enable higher power transfer through existing power lines with increased reliability and efficiency.
