REC launches BIPV solar solution

REC is launching its first building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solar solution combining its REC Peak Energy Series Module with the Solrif installation system developed by Ernst Schweitzer AG.

According to REC, the solar BIPV solution is “both weatherproof, and aesthetic, fitting directly into the roof replacing conventional building material. The product can be used for new roofs or for retrofit purposes.”

Åsmund Fodstad, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, REC Solar, says: "Starting with the REC Peak Energy Integrated we are diversifying our product portfolio to provide tailor made solutions to better meet the needs of our customers in the residential and commercial markets."

The aluminium Solrif Frame has a low profile height giving good rear ventilation, supports efficient electrical performance and can be combined with several roofing materials. The design supports drainage of rainwater and the sliding off of snow so that modules produce the maximum amount of power in all weather conditions.

"The REC Peak Energy Integrated is a solid investment for customers in the residential and commercial segments. Users can benefit from the highest feed- in-tariff available in France with this solution. We are glad to expand our product offering in a market that is such an important growth area for REC," adds Jan Jacob Boom-Wichers, Managing Director, France, Benelux, UK and Ireland, REC Solar France.

The REC Peak Energy Integrated is available in France and will be offered in other markets in the first quarter of 2011
