3B to distribute TYCOR W wind blade core material

Belgian glass reinforcements supplier 3B has been appointed exclusive distributor in Europe and Asia of US company Webcore Technologies' TYCOR® W fibre-reinforced core material for utility scale wind turbine blades.

WebCore Technologies' TYCOR core material for composites combines glass fibres with closed-cell, low density foam in an engineered architecture. The TYCOR family of products are used to produce lightweight, high strength sandwich structures for a range of applications, including truck bodies, military shelters, bridge decks, and cargo ship floors. TYCOR W has been engineered to provide wind turbine blade designers with a selection of core designs to optimise structural performance, weight and cost.

3B, headquartered in Battice, Belgium, is a supplier of fibreglass products for the reinforcement of thermoplastic and thermoset polymers. The distribution agreement with WebCore, of Miamisburg, Ohio, USA, expands its existing portfolio of Advantex® and HiPer-tex™ glass fibre products for the wind energy industry.

3B will help WebCore accelerate the penetration of TYCOR W in Europe and Asia.
