According to Sunways, the integrated instrument for automatic analysis of quality and efficiency of crystalline solar cells was developed as part of the LOANA project - funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), in which Sunways was involved.

A statement from Sunways reports that the system combines several test methods in a single device, and enables complex analyses to be carried out faster: "In this way its application helps to accelerate the development of new generations of Sunways Solar Cells with higher efficiencies," the statement read.

The LOANA measuring system, which was recently on show at the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) in Valencia/Spain is manufactured and sold by the German company pv-tools GmbH.

It combines the main techniques for the analytical evaluation of crystalline silicon solar cells in a single device. Among its benefits are a high degree of automation, good reproducibility of measurement conditions, and faster availability of comprehensive results. Such feedback allows for quick adjustments in running processes and respective cost savings.
