The two companies are collaborating in the design and development of a stand-alone hybrid power system using both a battery and direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) charger.

The direct methanol fuel cell system being developed by CMR Fuel Cells functions with a battery being developed by its undisclosed Asian ODM partner and is designed to provide over 8 hours of power for a notebook computer from a single fuel cartridge.
