Fire protection system provider Firetrace says direct-discharge FIRETRACE systems were chosen for the wind turbines three electrical cabinets, whereas two indirect discharge systems were selected for the transformer room.
The fire protection system is a self-seeking system where the extinguishing agent cylinder is connected to a polymer tubing via a valve. The tubing is a linear pneumatic heat and flame detector.
If a fire should break out, the tubing ruptures, releasing the suppression agent nearest the pint where the most heat is detected.
The two indirect release systems used in the transformer rooms, use the tube for detection and system activation, whereas the suppression agent is discharged through diffuser nozzles.
