Vestas receives potential 1.4 GW of wind turbines order

Vestas has signed a global order for 400 MW of wind turbines with an option for an additional 1 GW from an undisclosed company.

The initial 400 MW of wind turbine will be delivered in 2011-2014 and the contract includes supply, installation, commissioning and a 2-10 year service agreement.

The wind turbines will go to different sites around the world, Vestas says.

“We are very pleased to announce this important agreement, which further strengthens our global presence and confirms our leading position in the wind industry worldwide. Being the only global company focused solely on wind technology, we are fully committed to ensure our customers the best return on investment in each wind project,” says Peter Wenzel Kruse, Senior Vice President, Vestas Wind Systems A/S.

In other news: Vestas recently admitted a 7 m part of a blade on its V112 prototype wind turbine has broken off and is now investigating the cause of the failure.
