Looking at biogas in Central Europe

Biogas could be an important part of EU’s 2020 targets for renewable energy, and the EU project Sustainable and Innovative European Biogas Environment (SEBE) is now looking at technology and regulatory frameworks for biogas.

SEBE works across countries to establish “a common understanding of possibilities, policies and frameworks, aiming towards a sustainable further development of biogas production in Europe.”

It will in particular look at what makes anaerobic digestion (AD) schemes work across Europe and to identify what areas need further development.

SEBE will establish national Competence Knowledge Centres, and aims to transfer biogas know-how to the newer EU member countries.

The SEBE project is coordinated by ICS Internationalisierungscenter Steiermark in Austria and has a total budget of €3.2 million.
