Kyocera targets higher power with new module

The new product will incorporate 60 solar cells (240 Wp) and is aimed at installations on open fields or industrial roof tops.

According to Kyocera, due to such efficiency levels, its large KD240GH-2PB PV module is "particularly aimed at plants in industry and on open spaces since fewer modules are used to achieve a higher output, thus enabling installation costs to be reduced". Because of the module dimensions (1662 x 990 millimetres), Kyocera reports that it has attached two additional cross-struts to the rear of the module in order to ensure stability.

With its 60 cells and an output of 240 Wp the new module - to be launched at EU PVSEC in Valencia - provides five more watts of power than its predecessor modue, the KD235GH-2PB, which Kyocera introduced at Intersolar 2010 in Munich. Because of the module dimensions of 1662 x 990 millimetres, Kyocera has attached two additional cross-struts to the rear of the module in order to ensure stability.

A strong frame for the module guarantees high mechanical stability, a statement explains: "it can withstand a high wind pressure and a snow load of up to 5,400 N/m2. The black frame blends well with the dark cells and enhances the aesthetics of the installation".
