Phoenix constructs 3.5 MW solar PV plant in Italy

Phoenix Solar is constructing a 3.5 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Borgo Piave, Lazio in Italy for Etrion Corporation in a €10 million deal.

Phoenix Solar will plan and construct the solar PV plant, and provide operation and maintenance services.

The solar PV plant will consist of Trina Solar crystalline solar modules and SMA inverters. Construction is planned to start in August 2010, with grid connection by the end of the year.

Phoenix Solar says the solar PV plant is expected to produce 5 GWh of electricity annually.

With the Italian feed-in tariff for 2010, the plant could qualify for €0.346/kWh. In addition Etrion can sell the electricity at a market price of around €0.08/kWh.
