ACORE calls for action in US renewables industry

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) calls for a national response to President Barack Obama’s commitment to Double Renewable Energy in America (“DREAM”).

ACORE has issued a Call for Action Plans to its 600+ organisational members and all other renewable energy organisations, asking every company, utility, professional service firm, financial institution, association, college, university, non-profit group, and government agency to come forward with an Action Plan, stating its goals, role and commitment to it in a three-year national mobilisation to double the production of renewable energy by 2012.

Action plans will be presented at the Renewable Energy Technology Conference and Exhibition (RETECH 2009), on 25-27 February, in Las Vegas, USA.

ACORE will monitor the progress of each action plan over the coming three years; assemble a national database on the production of renewable energy and green jobs; and issue reports on the progress of the DREAM Program. ACORE will support this through its Economics Committee and Center for Economic Research.

The goals for doubling renewable energy production within three years will require future new and amended policies at the federal, state and local levels. ACORE and the Steering Committee will communicate with the Obama Administration to ensure the DREAM Program remains supportive of the government's goals and programmes associated with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan and other initiatives.
